De Irakese IS-overlevenden en Jezidi-activisten Nadia Murad en Lamiya Aji Bashar ontvangen de Sacharovprijs 2016 op dinsdag 13 december. Na de ontsnapping uit handen van de Islamitische Staat waar ze werden gebruikt als seksslavin, werden ze woordvoerders van slachtoffers van seksueel geweld door IS en van de vervolgde Jezidi-minderheid. More shareholder say on directors’ pay: MEPs’ deal with Council and Commission

New rules empowering shareholders to vote on directors’ pay, so as to tie it more closely to their performance, were informally agreed on Thursday. The EU Agency for Asylum must coordinate information exchange among member states and ensure they protect fundamental rights, said Civil Liberties Committee MEPs on Thursday. (Read more: New Asylum Agency must ensure EU countries respect common asylum rules, say MEPs )

 

A proposal to grant Spain €856,800 in EU aid to help find new jobs for 250 former car workers who were made redundant by 29 firms making motor vehicle parts in the Valencia region was approved by the Budgets Committee on Thursday. The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) aid still needs to be approved by the Council of Ministers on 12 December, and by a plenary vote in Parliament planned for 14 December. Noodonderwijs: kinderen in noodsituaties onderwijs geven

01) Presentatie over noodonderwijs  

Ongeveer 462 miljoen kinderen leven in landen die getroffen zijn door oorlog of nationale rampen en ongeveer 75 miljoen van hen hebben opvoedingsondersteuning nodig. De EU en Unicef startten dit jaar de campagne voor noodonderwijs. Op 6 december bezochten kinderen, leerkrachten en vrijwilligers het Parlement in Brussel om te praten over hun ervaringen. Syrische Witte Helmen: "No-fly zone en humanitaire corridors nodig"

Vrijwilligers van de Syrische Civiele Bescherming, beter bekend als de Witte Helmen, riskeren dagelijks hun leven met hun werk als belangrijkste reddingsgroep in Oost-Aleppo. De voornaamste verbindingsofficier, Abdulrahman Al-Mawwas, sprak op 5 december met de commissies Buitenlandse zaken en Ontwikkelingssamenwerking. Hij zei de huidige situatie in Aleppo af te keuren en riep op tot een no-fly zone en humanitaire corridors om een grootschalige humanitaire ramp te voorkomen. Mandatory checks at EU external borders: deal done by MEPs and ministers

All EU citizens and third country nationals entering or leaving the EU will be checked against databases, e.g. of lost and stolen documents, under a draft law informally agreed by MEPs and EU ministers on Monday.
