European Charlemagne Youth Prize
On Tuesday 03 May 2016 the three final European winners of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize will be announced at an award ceremony in Aachen (Germany). The ceremony will take place from 19.00 to 21.00 in the University of Aachen in the presence of Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pöttering, former President of the European Parliament, Michael Jansen, Chairman of the Charlemagne Prize foundation and Marcel Philipp, Major of the city of Aachen.
The three winners will be chosen from 28 national projects, submitted by national juries. In total 330 projects were submitted in all EU Member States. The competition is open to young people aged between 16 and 30 who have been involved with projects helping to promote understanding between peoples of different European countries. It is organised by the European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen. ECYP winners will be awarded €2,000, €3,000 and €5,000 as third, second and first prize.
