MEPs call for high-level EU human rights envoy

The Foreign Affairs committee called on the Council on Thursday to appoint a high-level envoy with an international reputation, tasked with raising the EU's human rights profile worldwide, to the new post of EU Special Representative for Human Rights created in line with the EP's repeated demands.

Human rights: Azerbaijan and return of North Korean refugees

All actions aimed at suppressing the freedom of expression and assembly in Azerbaijan should stop immediately, says a resolution adopted by the European Parliament on Thursday. Azerbaijan's hosting of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in its capital Baku on 26 May should be an opportunity for it to show its commitment to democracy and human rights, it adds. In a separate resolution, also passed on Thursday, Parliament calls on China to stop deporting North Korean refugees back to North Korea.

The European Parliament's current President, Jerzy Buzek, is soon to hand over the reins to his successor, who will be chosen by the full body of MEPs at the Strasbourg plenary session in January 2012. "Europe on the ground" vince il Premio Carlo Magno 2012 per la gioventù Gioventù − Italia - 16-05-2012 - 17:38

Il primo premio Carlo Magno per la gioventù è stato assegnato ad Aquisgrana martedi 15 maggio a "Europe on the ground", un progetto multimediale creato da giovani greci. Il secondo premio è andato a "Europe Meets School", programma di scambio per studenti Erasmus in Repubblica Ceca e il terzo premio al progetto "Cycle Me Home", un documentario road-movie ungherese.

Premio Carlo Magno per la gioventù 2012: Nuova scadenza per le candidature Gioventù − Italia - 20-01-2012 - 10:38

La scadenza per iscriversi al Premio Carlo Magno per la gioventù 2012 è stata posticipata al 13 febbraio 2012 per dare l'opportunità a un numero maggiore di progetti di partecipare alla Quinta edizione del Premio. La procedura di introduzione delle candidature è estremamente semplice.

Il premio europeo Carlo Magno della gioventù 2011 va a "Europe & me" Gioventù − Italia - 01-06-2011 - 15:05

"Europe & me", un magazine online inglese per giovani europei, ha vinto il primo Premio Carlo Magno della gioventù conferito oggi ad Aquisgrana. Il secondo premio è andato al progetto di cortometraggio "I Balcani al di là delle frontiere" (Grecia) ed il terzo al "Progetto Erasmus Scena", un programma di scambi culturali per gli studenti Erasmus.
