The institutional future of the European Union within and beyond the Treaty of Lisbon
        Brussels, Jòzsef Antall, 6Q2

Organised by the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, the main objective of this hearing is to afford the opportunity for a full discussion at Parliament level on the future outlook of the EU institutional set-up and on aspects of democracy and accountability, by examining both the potential of the existing Treaties in this respect and what should be done beyond the limits of the Treaties in an eventual future Treaty change.

The hearing will be divided into two discussion parts: the first one (09.20-11.00) on the Union sectoral policies (economic governance, foreign policy and justice and home affairs), the second one (11.00-12.40) on democracy, accountability and the institutional set-up. Each part will examine both what could still be realised under the current Treaties and what would possibly need to be changed.

      2.
Pensions - institutions for occupational retirement provision
        Brussels, Jòzsef Antall, 6Q2

The Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs will hold a public hearing on the Commission's proposed revision of the Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision Directive (IORP II). Some 125,000 IORPs operate privately managed pension schemes in the EU and hold assets worth €2.5 trillion. However, the financial and economic crisis has highlighted their vulnerability. The hearing will take place on 26.05.15 with the participation of representatives of the pension and academic community.

      3.
The Challenges and Perspectives in the EU-China Strategic Partnership

Professors Frank Pieke, Jing Men and Jan Wouters will offer viewpoints of China's internal policies, the EU-China strategic partnership and China's foreign policies. The hearing will be followed by a Q&A session with MEPs. The meeting will be webstreamed online.
