On 30 May the Sub-Committee on Human Rights (DROI) will hold a hearing on minorities caught between the Syrian civil war and ISIS in Iraq and Syria. A panel made up of experts including representatives of some of the main minorities in the region, Christian, Turkmen and Yazidi, will provide first hand observations on the general conditions in these two countries.

Election Observation Delegation to second round of Peru presidential elections

3–7 June 2016
Agustín DÍAZ DE MERA (EPP, ES), Vice-Chair of the EP delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly will head the delegation to Peru to observe the second round of presidential elections. He will be accompanied by Gabriel MATO (EPP, ES), Pilar AYUSO (EPP, ES), Inmaculada RODRÍGUEZ-PIÑERO (S&D, ES), Ryszard CZARNECKI (ECR, PL), Tatiana ŽDANOKA, (Greens/EFA, LV) and Georg MAYER (ENF, AT).
During this mission, Members of the delegation will meet with Chief Observer of the EU Election Observation Mission (EOM) and his team to analyse the political but also electoral and judicial situation in Peru. They will also meet with candidates in the presidential elections and representatives of the civil society.
On Sunday 5 June, day of the election, Members will observe the opening of different polling stations, the vote and the vote counting.
A joint press conference by the Chief Observer of the EU Election Observation Mission and the Head of the EP Delegation will be the opportunity to present the preliminary statement of the EU EOM on Tuesday 7 June.
