Europosłowie głosowali na zwycięzcę tegorocznej nagrody filmowej Parlamentu LUX 2011. Do wyboru mieli trzy filmy: Szweda Rubena Östlunda, Francuza Roberta Julesa Guédiguiana i Greczynki Athiny Rachel Tsangari. Zwyciężyła francuska produkcja "Śniegi Kilimandżaro".
Nagroda LUX jest wręczana od 2007 r. i jest wsparciem dla europejskiego przemysłu filmowego. Do finału wybierane są trzy filmy, które muszą reprezentować bogatość i różnorodność europejskiej kultury.
Zwycięzca nie otrzymuje zwykłej nagrody pieniężnej. Parlament funduje mu przetłumaczenie napisów do filmu na 23 unijne języki oficjalne. A także dostosowanie obrazu do osób mających problemy ze wzrokiem lub ze słuchem. PE finansuje także produkcję 35 mm kopii filmu na każdy kraj Unii.
W tym roku o nagrodę ubiegali się: "Attenberg" Greczynki Athiny Rachel Tsangari, "Śniegi Kilimandżaro" Francuza Roberta Julesa Guédiguiana i "Gra" Szweda Rubena Östlunda.
