Discussing the Clean Energy Package

The conference will be held within the Energy Union framework, specifically the Clean Energy Package. This new set of rules proposed by the European Commission aims to put the EU at the head of the energy transition market while finding the right financing framework.

The package puts the focus on local actors and the combination of private and public resources to achieve the transition. Furthermore, it places individuals on the spot, suggesting innovative proposals like consumers being able to produce and sell their own electricity and thus regulating prices more transparently. Decarbonising the European Union and the need for all Member States to engage and cooperate will also be discussed.
