Edificio do PE   O Evento Europeu da Juventude decorreu em Estrasburgo de 20 a 21 de maio de 2016.

A sede do Parlamento Europeu em Estrasburgo transformou-se no passado fim de semana, altura em que 7500 jovens europeus debateram os temas mais prementes com eurodeputados e representantes do mundo empresarial e da sociedade civil. Os debates não se limitaram aos presentes em Estrasburgo: milhares de pessoas participaram online com as hashtags #EYE2016 e #EYEtv. Internet: um espaço sem fronteiras físicas mas ainda com muitos desafios para os utilizadores. Um deles é o bloqueio geográfico, situação que ocorre quando somos impedidos de aceder a um conteúdo ou a um produto devido à nossa localização geográfica. Os eurodeputados debateram, esta quarta-feira, 25 de maio, em plenária as novas propostas da Comissão Europeia para impedir práticas injustificadas de bloqueio geográfico. Um em cada 4 europeus fuma e a grande maioria (94%) começou a fazê-lo antes dos 25 anos. Para fazer face a estes números, a UE adotou há dois anos uma nova diretiva para o tabaco que entrou em vigor na passada sexta-feira, 20 de maio de 2016. O objetivo é tornar o tabaco menos atrativo, especialmente entre os mais jovens. (Ler mais: Novas regras para o tabaco )

 

Plans for stricter monitoring and certification procedures to ensure that medical devices such as breast or hip implants comply fully with safety and traceability requirements were informally agreed by MEPs and the Dutch Presidency of the Council on Wednesday. MEPs also secured tighter information and ethical requirements for diagnostic medical devices, e.g. those used for pregnancy or DNA testing. A União da Energia deve habilitar os cidadãos a produzirem, consumirem, armazenarem ou venderem a sua própria energia proveniente de fontes renováveis, a título individual ou coletivo, e a tornarem-se participantes ativos no mercado da energia, diz um relatório hoje aprovado pelo Parlamento Europeu. Os eurodeputados apelam também a que os fundos da UE afetados à eficiência energética e ao apoio à produção própria de energia incidam sobretudo nos consumidores em situação de pobreza energética. The EU Commission should set up a taskforce to monitor virtual currencies, like Bitcoin, to prevent their being used to launder money or finance terrorism, said Parliament in a non-binding resolution voted on Thursday. The EU Commission should go on negotiating with the USA to remedy “deficiencies” in proposed “Privacy Shield” protection for EU citizens’ data transferred to the US for commercial purposes, Parliament says in a non-legislative resolution passed on Thursday. Parliament approved aid on Thursday worth €6,468,000 for 557 redundant workers from the “Larissa” supermarket in Greece and €5,146,800 for 2,132 former drivers for the road haulage and delivery firm MoryGlobal SAS in France. The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) aid will still need to be approved by the Council of Ministers on 6 June. Os eurodeputados debateram hoje com o vice-presidente da Comissão para o Mercado Único Digital, Andrus Ansip, o novo pacote legislativo para impulsionar o comércio eletrónico na UE, que inclui propostas sobre as práticas injustificadas de bloqueio geográfico, a entrega transfronteiriça de encomendas e o cumprimento das regras de defesa do consumidor. A Comissão apresentou também uma proposta de revisão das regras da UE para o setor audiovisual e uma comunicação sobre as plataformas em linha.
