Development MEPs urged EU member countries to respect their Official Development Assistance (ODA) target of 0.7% of national income and to set timetables for reaching it by 2020. It also highlighted the need to mobilise domestic resources efficiently in developing countries and stressed the importance of private-sector contributions in a resolution on financing development adopted on Monday. A negotiating brief on the “Juncker” plan for a European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) to guarantee growth and job-creating investment was backed by the Budgets and Economic and Monetary Affairs committees on Monday evening. But MEPs contested plans to feed the fund from the EU research and transport investment budgets, and called for more parliamentary control over its leadership and goals. Piliečių laisvių komiteto nariai balandžio 14 dieną kartu su ekspertais aptarė ES priemones kovai su terorizmu ir radikalizmu. „Per pastaruosius metus saugumo padėtis Europoje dramatiškai pasikeitė“, – po diskusijos pažymėjo komiteto pirmininkas Claude Moraes (Socialistai ir demokratai, Jungtinė Karalystė). Paklausėme jo ir EP nuomonę apie radikalizmo prevenciją rengiančios Rachidos Dati (Europos liaudies partija, Prancūzija), kaip reaguoti į terorizmo grėsmę. Plans to improve and broaden the use of a simplified procedure for low-value cross-border claims to recover money from abroad, so as to cut costs and paperwork for both consumers and businesses, were backed by the legal affairs committee on Thursday. Armėnija ir Turkija turėtų pasinaudoti armėnų genocido šimtųjų metinių minėjimu ir atnaujinti diplomatinius santykius bei atverti sieną. Tai teigiama trečiadienį Europos Parlamento patvirtintoje rezoliucijoje, kurioje EP nariai ragina Turkiją pripažinti armėnų tautos genocidą, siekiant, kad tai atvertų kelią į tikrą turkų ir armėnų tautų susitaikymą. Parliament agreed to changes to ceilings in the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework for 2014-2020 on Wednesday, to help fund 300 state-managed programmes, in all EU member states, that started too late to qualify for EU funding in 2014. These changes would allow €21.1 billion in unused commitment appropriations to be carried over from 2014 to 2015-17. Parliament called for more efforts to end discrimination, hate crime and hate speech against Roma people and for 2 August to be recognised as Roma Holocaust Memorial Day, to commemorate the Roma genocide in World War II, in a resolution passed on Wednesday.
