The results of the EU’s one-year-old deal with Turkey to manage refugee and migration flows will be assessed by Civil Liberties Committee MEPs and EU Commission officials this afternoon. The Commission will also report to the committee on the financial aid so far provided to Turkey to assist refugees. A Conferência de Presidentes do Parlamento Europeu (PE) aprovou hoje uma proposta de resolução na qual define as condições para aprovar o acordo de saída do Reino Unido da União Europeia. O documento, redigido pelos líderes de quatro grupos políticos e pela Comissão dos Assuntos Constitucionais do PE, será debatido e votado em plenário na próxima quarta-feira, em Estrasburgo. Nove meses após o referendo, o governo britânico acionou esta quarta-feira, 29 de março, o artigo 50.º do Tratado da UE, anunciando formalmente a sua intenção de deixar a UE. A partir de hoje, o Reino Unido e a UE terão dois anos para negociar um acordo que estabeleça as condições de saída. Para além disso, vão ainda ter de determinar um quadro para as futuras relações. Plans to make it easier to move money around within the EU’s long-run budget, to help tackle urgent challenges such as the migration crisis, strengthening security, boosting growth and creating jobs, were backed by the Budgets Committee on Monday. Parliament has long fought for greater flexibility within the Multi-annual Financial Framework (MFF), which would apply for the remainder of the 2014-2020 MFF. Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee MEPs have voted to close loopholes which allow some of the world’s largest corporations to avoid paying tax on profits by exploiting differences in the tax systems of EU and third countries. German federal Minister of the Interior Thomas de Maizière and French Minister of the Interior Matthias Fekl will debate EU measures to improve the security situation in Europe and future challenges in the field with the Civil Liberties Committee on Monday from 17.00 to 19.00. Há 60 anos, líderes de seis países reuniam-se em Roma para assinar os acordos que dariam eventualmente origem a uma união com 28 Estados-Membros. Este sábado, representantes do Parlamento Europeu e outros líderes europeus deslocam-se a Roma para participar nas comemorações do aniversário na capital italiana, num momento em que a futura direção do projeto europeu é alvo de um forte debate. Parliament’s President Antonio Tajani, political group leaders and other leading MEPs will meet with Italy’s highest public officials, starting with President Sergio Mattarella on Friday, and take part in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome on Saturday.
