Uudised

"Euroopas on julgeolekuolukord viimaste aastate jooksul märgatavalt muutunud," lausus EP kodanikuvabaduste komisjoni juht Claude Moraes teisipäeval, 14. aprillil, kui parlamendis toimus terrorismiohule ja Euroopa sisejulgeolekule keskendunud kuulamine. Peateemadeks kujunesid luureametite piiriülene koostöö ja meetmed, millega hoida ära kodanike pöördumine äärmuslusse. (Loe lähemalt: Võitlus terrorismi ja radikaliseerumisega vajab paremat piiriülest koostööd )

Kolmapäeval Euroopa Parlamendis vastu võetud resolutsioonis kustuvad saadikud Armeeniat ja Türgit üles taastma diplomaatilised suhted, avama piirid ja panema aluse majanduslikule integratsioonile. Saadikud rõhutavad Armeenia genotsiidi tunnistamise vajadust Türgi poolt, et panna alus “tõeliseks leppimiseks.” Resolutsioonis tunnustavad saadikud samuti paavst Franciscuse avaldust Armeenia genotsiidi 100. aastapäeva mälestamise kohta. Inimkaubanduse ohvriks on üle maailma hinnanguliselt 20 miljoni naist, last ja meest. See valulik teema on EP inimõiguste allkomisjonis päevakorral neljapäeval, 16. aprillil, kui saadikud ja mitmed väliseksperdid kogunevad kuulamisele, mis keskendub inimkaubanduse vastase võitluse rollile Euroopa Liidu välispoliitikas. Otseülekandes jälgitav kuulamine algab Eesti aja järgi kell 10.00. (Loe lähemalt: Kuulamine inimõiguste komisjonis: võitlus inimkaubandusega ELi välispoliitikas )

Parliament agreed to changes to ceilings in the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework for 2014-2020 on Wednesday, to help fund 300 state-managed programmes, in all EU member states, that started too late to qualify for EU funding in 2014. These changes would allow €21.1 billion in unused commitment appropriations to be carried over from 2014 to 2015-17.
