Ms Ivanova is currently an MEP for the EPP group.
The vote was 309 in favour, 39 against and 185abstentions.
Miss Ivanova graduated from Varna University with both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in International Business Relations in 1999, and then worked in the United States banking industry as a financial analyst.
She will replace Nadeida Sandolova, the current Bulgarian representative in the Court of Auditors.
Procedure
Members of the Court of Auditors are appointed for six years. The Council, after consulting the European Parliament, decides upon the proposals made by each member state.
To prepare for a hearing in Parliament, a candidate is asked to answer a questionnaire prepared by the Budgetary Control Committee. At the hearing, candidates may make a five-minute opening statement, followed by a 25-minute question and reply session with committee members.
