Európsky parlament si zvolil všetkých 14 podpredsedov v treťom kole. Na zvolenie každého z nich bola potrebná jednoduchá väčšina platných odovzdaných hlasov. Päť nových kvestorov zvolili poslanci v stredu popoludní.

Today's election of Martin Schulz (S&D, DE) as President of the European Parliament resulted in the final change to the composition of the Conference of Presidents, the body that brings together Parliament's president and political group leaders. Hannes Swoboda (S&D, AT) replaces Mr Schulz as chair of the Socialists and Democrats Group today, following the election or re-election of the other group leaders.

Europoslanci zvolili Martina Schulza za nového predsedu Európskeho parlamentu. Za jeho zvolenie sa vyslovilo 387 zo 670 hlasujúcich europoslancov. Tento 56-ročný nemecký sociálny demokrat povedie Európsky parlament nasledujúcich dva a pol roka, t.j. do nasledujúceho legislatívneho obdobia, začínajúceho v júli 2014.
