        Apart from meetings with their counterparts from the Lebanese Parliament, MEPs will meet with representatives of the government and armed forces, leaders of main political parties, as well as representatives of Syrian civic movement, UN and Red Cross to discuss the latest developments on the ground in Syria, the refugee situation in Lebanon and impact on society. They will also visit refugee projects on education.

      2. 29th ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly 

        13-17 June 2015

        • Louis Michel (ALDE, BE), Co-President of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA) will head the EP delegation to the 29th ACP-EU JPA session in Suva (Fiji) from 15 to 17 June 2015. The plenary session will be preceded and prepared by meetings of the three standing committees of the JPA on 13 June.
        • MEPs and their counterparts from national parliaments of countries of Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) will debate and vote on challenges and opportunities in education and vocational training in ACP countries; the financing of investment and trade, in ACP countries by the EU blending mechanism; and the cultural diversity and human rights in ACP and EU countries. They will also hold debates on seas and oceans, natural resources, the natural disaster in Vanuatu and the situation in the CAR.

        • A delegation of 4 MEPs will travel to Seoul for the 19th EU-Republic of Korea Interparliamentary Meeting (IPM) on 17-19 June. MEPs will hold talks with their counterparts from Korea's National Assembly and with government authorities on the state of the bilateral relationship, including economic and commercial relations, and the situation in the Korean peninsula. MEPs are also likely to discuss gender equality, youth unemployment and research issues.

        The Visa Package

        The Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee will hold a hearing on the Visa Package for the purpose of gathering the input of experts for its further legislative works. The Visa Package consists of a review of the Visa Code which contains the conditions and procedures for the issuing of Schengen short-stay visas and of the proposal to establish a touring visa, a new type of visa which would permit the holder to travel within the Schengen Area for a period longer than the current 90 days.

        Workshop on Civil Judicial Experts in the EU

        Hosted by the Legal Affairs Committee, this workshop will bring together Members of the European Parliament and a number of experts, practitioners and academics with a view to discussing the differences between national rules on judicial technical expertise, the difficulties in cross-border situations and possible ways of addressing them. During the workshop, the question of the approximation of the rules on judicial experts and the relevance of other solutions such as the introduction of an EU list of judicial experts or the creation of a specific status of expert generally recognised in the EU will be raised.

        Organised by the Constitutional Affairs Committee, MEPs will have the opportunity to discuss with experts and debate in committee on how to improve law-making and regulation in the EU. A comparison of the EU and The Netherlands will be discussed.  Perspectives from the United States and Poland will also be discussed taking note of public consultation practices and accountability in rulemaking as well as impact assessment and an early warning system.

        • Mady Delvaux (S&D, LU), Vice-Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee, Alojz Peterle (EPP, SI), Emil Radev (EPP, BG), Amjad Bashir (ECR, UK) and Juan Fernando López Aguila (NI, ES), members of the Foreign Affairs, Legal Affairs and Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committees, will take part in an interparliamentary conference on "Towards independent and modern judicial systems in the enlargement countries", organised by the European Parliament and hosted by the Parliament of Montenegro in Budva on 18-19 June.
        • MEPs will join their counterparts from the Western Balkans and Turkey during the two-day conference on the judicial reforms in the enlargement countries, which constitute a central point of pre-accession talks. Modernisation of the judicial systems, including eJustice, Croatian experience with judicial reforms, judicial cooperation or the fight against corruption in the judiciary will top the debates.
