        Real Driving Emissions tests
        Brussels, Jòzsef Antall, 4Q2

The Environment, Public Health and Food Safety committee will hold a public hearing on "Real Driving Emissions tests" to inform ENVI on the development of these new testing procedures, in the context of ENVI's ongoing work on the reduction of pollutant emissions from road vehicles. In September 2015, ENVI adopted its position on the Commission proposal of January 2014 on the reduction of pollutant emissions from road vehicles. A key feature of ENVI's position is that test procedures for certain pollutant emissions should reflect real driving conditions, a timely response given the revelation of Volkswagen's use of defeat devices in laboratory emissions testing. This hearing will host speakers representing industry, consumers and research with a view to increasing understanding of the issues at stake.

Taking citizens' concerns seriously: broadening the scope of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights
        Brussels, Altiero Spinelli, 3G2

This hearing, organised by the Petitions Committee, aims at discovering whether the protection granted to citizens' fundamental rights in the EU is in fact effective and to what extent citizens' expectations, as expressed in petitions, can indeed be satisfied under the present legal mechanism of protection. Speakers will originate from academic institutions, the Court of Justice of the EU, a national Constitutional Court and competent EU institutions and agencies.

        The Single Market Strategy
        Brussels, Altiero Spinelli, 3G-3

The Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee will hold a hearing on the Single Market Strategy on 23 February 2016, from 15.00 to 17.00. The discussions will give input to the draft report by Lara Comi (EPP, IT) on the same subject, which will provide Parliament's response to the Commission's communication "Upgrading the Single Market: more opportunities for people and business", presented on 28 October 2015. The hearing will be devoted to "creating more opportunities for consumers, professionals and businesses, and boosting enforcement" and to "encouraging and enabling the modernisation and innovation that Europe needs".

Energy Costs and EU Industry Competitiveness
        Brussels, Paul-Henri Spaak, 1A002

The Industry, Research and energy committee is organising a Public Hearing on energy costs and EU industry competitiveness. The hearing will look at all major components of energy costs and in particular from the side of providers and users. Their impact on the competitiveness of European industry will be discussed in an international context.

Tools to Reduce Price Volatility in Agricultural Markets
        Brussels, Jòzsef Antall, 4Q1

Building on the past experience, members of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development will debate with academics and sector representatives future ways to tackle price volatility in the agricultural markets. Farmers in many EU member states have been struggling for months now with falling prices they get for their products, particularly milk and meat ones.
