Public hearing jointly organised by the Committee on Regional Development and Committee on Industry, Research and Energy on the synergies between EU Cohesion policy and Horizon 2020. The hearing will focus on the role of coordination between the two Union funding programmes while looking at specific examples from EU countries.
The MEPs of Security and Defence Subcommittee will discuss with academic experts why and how small arms and light weapons (SALW) are proliferating and by which measures EU could limit and finally prevent their spreading.
On Tuesday afternoon the Subcommittee on Human Rights will debate on the Human Rights situation in North Korea.
Japan citizen Teruaki Masumoto will talk on the abduction of a member of his family by North Korean authorities and North Korean defector Oh Kil-Nam will make a video statement on the efforts to free his wife and two daughters from North Korean labour camp.
High level speakers from South Korea and USA will talk on the Human Rights situation in North Korea. Relations between EU and North Korea will also be under the discussion.

This is the first meeting of both parliamentary delegations after the election of Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti in March this year.
The European Parliament Delegation, headed by MEP Monica Luisa MACOVEI (EPP, RO), and the Moldovan Delegation, chaired by Ms Corina Fusu, will debate the status of negotiations on the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, the implementation of reforms in the judiciary and public administration fields, and the fight against corruption in Moldova as well as the most recent developments in resolving the Transnistria conflict.
