Κοινοβουλευτικές ερωτήσεις

Οι κοινοβουλευτικές ερωτήσεις είναι ερωτήσεις που απευθύνουν οι βουλευτές του ΕΚ στα λοιπά θεσμικά και άλλα όργανα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης. Η διαδικασία αυτή αποτελεί έναν άμεσο μηχανισμό κοινοβουλευτικού ελέγχου στα λοιπά θεσμικά και άλλα όργανα της ΕΕ.
Υπάρχουν τρεις κατηγορίες κοινοβουλευτικών ερωτήσεων:

  • Οι προφορικές ερωτήσεις, οι οποίες εξετάζονται στη διάρκεια των συνεδριάσεων του Κοινοβουλίου, εγγράφονται στις «Συζητήσεις» της ημέρας, και ακολουθούνται ή δεν ακολουθούνται από ψήφισμα ( άρθρο 136)
  • Οι ερωτήσεις της «Ώρας των ερωτήσεων», οι οποίες διατυπώνονται σε συγκεκριμένες χρονικές στιγμές που έχουν ορισθεί προς τον σκοπό αυτόν, κατά τη διάρκεια των συνόδων ολομέλειας ( άρθρο 137)
  • Οι γραπτές ερωτήσεις, οι οποίες διατυπώνονται με αίτημα γραπτής απάντησης ( άρθρο 138)
