European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek will pay an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Tsetska Tsacheva, Speaker of the Bulgarian National Assembly. The President will attend the official ceremonies for the National Day of Bulgaria. He will have meetings with Georgi Parvanov, the President of Bulgaria and Boyko Borissov, the Prime Minister. Jerzy Buzek will hold discussions with the Presiding Body of the National Assembly. The President, together with Tsetska Tsacheva, Speaker of the Bulgarian National Assembly will meet with students to discuss European matters. The detailed programme can be found below.

Speaking prior to his visit, President Buzek said: "I am very honoured to visit your country on such important day for the Bulgarian nation. We have the common tough experiences of the past, but we have a bright common future. I know and understand the concerns, needs and expectations of those who recently joined the Union.  Now we bear a shared responsibility for the future of our continent. It is important for me to have an ongoing exchange of views with the Bulgarian political leadership on issues of mutual interest and concern."
