Question Time to the European Commission

Question Time to the European Commission is being held in a new format for a trial period as of September 2011. Depending on the outcome of an evaluation early in 2012, this new format may eventually replace the previous form of Question Time.

The new format is as follows:

Each Question Time has a specific horizontal topic and is based exclusively on the "catch the eye procedure" (questions by Members alternating with answers by Commissioners); no questions are tabled in advance.
Three or more Commissioners with portfolios related to the chosen topic are all present for the full 90 minutes of Question Time.

For each Question Time, the specific horizontal topic is decided by the Conference of Presidents. Subsequently, this topic is published on "Séance en Direct", as are the names of the Commissioners attending.
