Parliamentary questions
9 August 2018
E-003447/2018
Answer given by Ms Creţu on behalf of the European Commission

On 29 May 2018, in relation to the project ‘Construction of a landfill in North East Attika in Mavro Vouno Grammatikou’, the Commission sent a pre-correction letter to the Greek authorities maintaining its view that the project is not functioning and requesting a 100% financial correction. If the Greek authorities do not accept the conclusions of the Commission, a technical meeting will be held in order to discuss the disputed conclusions. The outcome will determine the further course of the financial correction procedure.

As no final decision has been made on the EU financing of the project, the Commission would not be justified to request the removal of the sign. The 100% financial correction would apply to the landfill project itself and no other associated projects.
