Parliamentary questions
16 November 2016
P-007157/2016
Answer given by Vice-President Mogherini on behalf of the Commission

The EU has maintained a constant principled position with regard to the downing of the flight MH17, including calling on all States that are in a position to assist with the investigation and prosecution of those responsible to fully cooperate with the ongoing criminal investigation, without any preconditions.

For more details, the Commission refers the Honourable Members to the Declaration by the High Representative/Vice-President, on behalf of the EU on the second anniversary of the downing of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17(1) issued on 14 July 2016 and the Statement by the High Representative on the interim results of the Joint Investigation Team’s criminal investigation into the downing of flight MH17(2) issued on 28 September 2016.

As underlined in the latter, the interim results of the independent criminal investigation, presented by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), demonstrate that important progress has been made, answering many questions of substantial importance for the investigation as well as for those personally concerned by the tragedy.
