Future of Europe/European Council. MEPs will take stock of the period of reflection following the rejection of the EU constitution by voters in France and the Netherlands in a debate with Commission and Council (Wednesday) ahead of the EU summit in Brussels at the end of the week. EP President Josep Borrell will address EU leaders at the start of the meeting, before holding a press conference. (Thursday)
Groundwater pollution. Legislation intended to protect groundwater from pollution comes to second reading, with significant differences remaining between Parliament and Council. (debate Monday, vote Tuesday)

Forced prostitution and sports events. As the football World Cup gets underway in Germany, MEPs will again highlight the issue of forced prostitution associated with major sports events, with a debate on the subject. (Monday)
Data Protection. The plenary will deal with proposals to extend data protection rules to police and judicial cooperation (debate Tuesday, vote Wednesday), while Commission Vice-President Franco Frattini will debate the impact of the Court of Justice's annulment of the EU-US agreement on transfer of air passenger name records with the Civil Liberties Committee. CIA report. The Temporary Committee investigating allegations of illegal CIA activity in Europe will vote on its interim report. (Monday)
