Question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 130
Dubravka Šuica (PPE)

 Subject:  Vaccines
 Answer(s)

Unethical and unprofessional conduct in the pharmaceutical industry, supported by political populism, has led to an increase in the number of unvaccinated children throughout the EU. Unvaccinated children are adding to the general susceptibility to disease and impairing the immunity of the wider public. Moreover, this phenomenon increases the likelihood that viruses hitherto neutralised will once again start to spread, as we have been witnessing in recent years in a number of Member States.

Given that this harmful trend — which poses a risk to public health and to security, both internationally and — especially — at regional and national level within Member States — is on the rise throughout the EU, how will the Commission help the Member States to make the public understand the vital importance of vaccinating children?
