WRITTEN QUESTION by Christofer Fjellner (PPE‑DE) to the Commission

 Subject: Direct sales of alcohol

All the Member States except Sweden allow direct sales of wine and other alcoholic drinks by producers. However, only Sweden and Finland have a monopoly retail trade in alcoholic drinks.

Does the Commission consider that there are any legal impediments under EC law to prevent Sweden from allowing regulated direct sales of locally produced alcoholic drinks despite the fact that Sweden otherwise conducts trade in alcoholic drinks through a retail trade monopoly?
