In 1967, the Member States of the United Nations adopted the Outer Space Treaty.

However, the US Federal Aviation Administration has revealed that it will encourage the private sector to engage in commercial space activities with a view to staking an exclusive claim to territory on the Moon. In this context, what is the Commission doing to protect the interests of the European Union and its Member States on the Moon?
