Motion for a European Parliament resolution on preserving the European social model in connection with free trade agreements under negotiation
The European Parliament,
– having regard to Rule 133 of its Rules of Procedure,
A. whereas future free trade agreements between the EU and countries outside the EU are being negotiated entirely without regard to observance of the democratic process;
B. whereas some of the potential partners fail to meet the social standards established by the International Labour Organisation;
1. Calls on the Commission to show vigilance and to provide for clauses whereby any agreement could be suspended if a case of unfair competition were found to have occurred.
