Russian veto

Question for written answer P-004340-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Esther Herranz García (PPE)

On 7 August 2014 the Russian Federation ordered an embargo on certain farm goods from the EU, for reasons that are completely unconnected with the agricultural sector. This unleashed a serious crisis on the EU fruit and vegetable market.

1. Is the Commission planning to extend Delegated Regulation (EU) No 1031/2014 so that the exceptional measures it governs provide sufficiently for all the products affected and in good time?

2. Until when will the Commission maintain these exceptional measures?

3. Has it considered making summer fruit eligible for aid immediately — without waiting for its price to tumble — and increasing those exceptional withdrawal quotas which have been exhausted, as is the case for apples and citric fruit?
