At present, there are no uniform European standards for first aid training and the recognition of qualifications in this area. This can cause problems, especially for people from border regions, who have completed such training in their Member State of origin, because their qualifications are not automatically recognised in the adjacent Member State. This can have an adverse effect on their professional life, for example if they work in the field of health and safety.

Is the Commission seeking to establish the mutual recognition of high-quality first aid certificates among all Member States? If not, why not?
