VP/HR — Italian cemetery in Tripoli threatened by Isis

Question for written answer P-011662-15
to the Commission (Vice-President/High Representative)
Rule 130
Mario Borghezio (ENF)

The caretaker of the Italian cemetery in Tripoli has reported that, in addition to the tomb of King Victor Emmanuel III in Alexandria, the cemetery in Tripoli, containing the abandoned and desecrated remains of 7 800 Italians, is also under threat from Isis. It is already the second time that the jihadists have entered the cemetery with a bulldozer, crashing through the boundary wall and desecrating graves.

Does the Vice-President/High Representative intend to take any action to ensure that the remains of 7 800 Italians buried in the cemetery in Tripoli are saved from desecration by Isis and returned to Italy?
