The Spanish Government is currently negotiating the sale of five corvettes from the Spanish company Navantia.
Given Saudi Arabia’s military involvement in the conflict in Yemen, with Saudi troops having even entered Yemeni territory:
Does the Commission believe that the sale of corvette warships to Saudi Arabia would be in line with Council Common Position 2008/944/CFSP defining common rules governing the control of exports of military technology and equipment, particularly as regards the criterion on preservation of regional peace, security and stability and the criterion on the buyer country’s attitude to terrorism, the nature of its alliances and respect for international law?
