Clarification requested regarding sub-measure 4.1 of the RDP for Sicily

As part of the 2014-2020 regional development programme (RDP) for Sicily, sub-measure 4.1 ‘Support for investments in agricultural holdings’ seeks to modernise the agricultural and agri-food production system by providing support for agricultural holdings that make tangible and/or intangible investments to improve their overall performance and to reposition themselves on the markets. Applications for support are assessed and selected in compliance with the criteria laid down by the regional administration, through the allocation of a set of points for each individual project. These criteria include an item entitled ‘initiatives for completion of the supply chain’. It is not clear what is meant by ‘completion of the supply chain’, whether it means the completion of the finished product so that it is ready to be sold to consumers, for example, through a supermarket, or whether it means the direct sale to the final consumer.

Can the Commission therefore clarify:

• —the meaning, in its view (in order to avoid different interpretations), of the phrase ‘completamento della filiera’ (completion of the supply chain)?
