Catalan farmers’ representatives met the Commission representative in Barcelona today to discuss the Union's response to market disruptions in fruit prices.

Last December, the European Parliament adopted a report[1] on CAP instruments to reduce price volatility in agricultural markets, in which it made a number of recommendations on crisis prevention and management instruments, including countercyclical measures. The Commission responded[2] by reiterating its rejection of these proposals, although it said it had taken note thereof and was considering various options.
