  Zigmantas Balčytis (S&D), in writing. – I fully support this report. The global financial and economic financial crisis caused great disturbances in developed economies but it had even more profound effects on emerging and developing countries. The achievement of Millennium Development Goals is now at stake because the progress that has been made in those counties over the last decade has stalled. Financial aid alone cannot ensure economic progress in developing countries. Thus, the Commission should urge the reform of international development cooperation. Moreover, I believe that assistance to developing countries should be constantly adapted to the circumstances in those countries.
