Text tabled : A7-0183/2012

Siiri Oviir (ALDE), in writing. (ET) I believe that the development of trade between the European Union and the countries of the Eastern partnership is of great importance. The latter countries have 75 million inhabitants, and I therefore supported the proposals contained in this report. The establishment of free trade areas would certainly be an effective measure in the development of long-term economic relations. The gradual removal of trade barriers will increase economic integration and help to harmonise the legal framework in areas that influence trade in goods and services. Economic integration between the European Union and the countries of the Eastern partnership will also provide a significant stimulus to the implementation of democratic reforms in those countries. For Europe, cooperation with the countries of the Eastern partnership is of great economic and political importance.
