Text tabled : A7-0341/2012

Derek Vaughan (S&D), in writing. − This resolution, which I fully support, aims to develop policy and strengthen practice in creating a real Digital Single Market in the European Union whilst focusing on key areas such as VAT and intellectual property rights. Highlighting the Digital Market’s significance in improving European competitiveness, this resolution recognises the importance of the internet economy and the need to adapt to its rapid developments to be prepared for future challenges.

Another feature of this resolution is the pursuit of connecting with SMEs by working towards creating a favourable environment for better productivity and employment in Europe. Furthermore, it seeks to include measures such as a Code of EU Online Rights, providing more information for consumers thus creating more benefits for EU citizens. For these reasons, I voted in favour of this resolution.
