  Claude Moraes (S&D), in writing. − I voted for this report because at present the translation costs for patent applications can be as high as EUR 85 per page, making the European patent 10 times more expensive that a US patent. Cutting translation costs through the use of machine-generated translations or reimbursement of fees would be of benefit to individuals and SMEs and contribute to the overall success of the unitary patent.
