Governance of the single market (A7-0019/2013 - Andreas Schwab)
Pino Arlacchi (S&D), in writing. − I support this text because I believe that an effective single market is needed more than ever to boost growth, create jobs and revitalise the European economy. The single market should be completed as quickly as possible, while maintaining a careful balance between its economic and social dimensions. Most of all, it is important to stress the interdependence between the single market and other horizontal policy areas, including consumer and worker protection, social rights, the environment and sustainable development. Concrete actions, both at Member State and Union level, are still needed to implement fully freedom of movement for goods, persons, services and capital in the European Union. For all these reason, as was proposed by this report, I believe it is critical to strengthen the role of the single market within the European Semester.
