Madam President-in-Office, let me emphasise once again, as my colleagues have already done, the crucial importance of the Eastern Partnership and the Vilnius Summit, and of the comprehensive and deep free trade agreement with Ukraine and all the progress which could be made with Georgia and Moldova.

But the energy issue could be an even more important sign in a long-term perspective of your Presidency.

Two points are of crucial importance – I encourage myself to give you advice as I am the rapporteur for the internal energy market in this Parliament. The first point: implementation of all existing legislation by all the Member States. This is the responsibility of the Council as well.

Second, the selection of the most important cross-border connections projects for spending money from the Connecting Europe Facility. Stop energy islands in the European Union. Let us build a true European energy community.
