European Border Surveillance System (EUROSUR) (debate)

Jan Mulder, rapporteur. − Madam President, first I want to thank everybody for their contributions to this debate and for the kind words that were sometimes spoken. As I said earlier, I can recommend the agreement to this House.

That implies automatically that I reject all the amendments, even the amendments from the Greens. I do not think that they will improve the text; the saving of human lives is treated in great detail in the text, so an extra amendment does not make it better, and on top of that, if it were adopted, it would jeopardise the whole agreement that we have at the moment and I do not think that is worth it. I think we have to start with Eurosur as quickly as possible, so I would strongly advise this House not to vote for the amendments by the Green Group, despite their very valuable contribution and their active participation.

Thank you all very much. I hope that after tomorrow we will have a Eurosur regulation.
