Claudette Abela Baldacchino (S&D), in writing. - One quarter of Europeans – 120 million people –were at risk of poverty and social exclusion in 2010. European Solidarity is essential. The Fund for Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD) is a sign of such solidarity with those hit hardest by the crises. The budget of about EUR 3.5 billion is still far from being enough. Whilst a budget to help those most deprived is a step in the right direction, it is to be noted that it is a shame that the European Union has a quarter of Europeans at the risk of poverty and social exclusion. Member States should be leaders in eradicating poverty and social exclusion.
