Role and operations of the Troika with regard to the euro area programme countries (A7-0149/2014 - Othmar Karas, Liem Hoang Ngoc)

Jim Higgins, Seán Kelly, Mairead McGuinness and Gay Mitchell (PPE), in writing. - Not everything in the report by the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs on the Troika is as we would wish, but overall the compromises are well crafted and do make the relevant points about Ireland, and are supportive. It is better to have targeted assistance to Ireland and the three programme states than general assistance to all 28 Member States. To open compromises would be to put all questions back into negotiation. We therefore support the general thrust of the report.
