Judith A. Merkies (S&D). - Mr President, I should like to thank the Commissioner for her proposal to connect the continent and to abolish the roaming costs. Thank you too, Ms Trautmann, for trying to safeguard net neutrality. I know it is very much a challenge, but I would like the European Parliament to lead on this very topic and not to follow. We have seen that all the developments on the Internet are taking a very high, rapid flight. Sometimes we stand there empty-handed, only watching in surprise what is happening.

What is so important is that we create the future and future innovation on the Internet. The impact of the definition of specialised services is going to be enormous, and I very much fear that the definition in both the compromises is not very clear, nor is the impact. So I propose that everyone uses what has happened in the Netherlands as an example, because our law on net neutrality, I think, is a very good example for the European Union.
