Seán Kelly (PPE), in writing. ‒ I am pleased to support the application for the mobilisation of the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund made by Attica Broadcasting. The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund was set up to provide additional assistance to workers who have lost their jobs as a result of major structural changes in world trade patterns. Attica Broadcasting was a large employer in the Attica Region of Greece, and the 928 redundancies which have resulted from its closure have had a significant adverse impact on the local economy, which was already struggling with large-scale unemployment. I therefore voted in favour of this report as it is a means by which the EU can give valuable help to the local economy and support the workers affected by helping them re-enter the labour market.
