Martina Anderson (GUE/NGL), in writing. ‒ This report deals with Parliament’s recommendation on the agenda for the upcoming 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The report has a number of positive aspects on matters of human rights, democracy, rule of law and the proliferation of weapons.

However there are a number of negative aspects as well, related to the common foreign and security policy (CFSP) of the European Union, to EU battlegroups, and to the proposal for the EU to have its own seat on the UN Security Council.

I therefore abstained on the overall vote.
