Maria João Rodrigues, on behalf of the S&D Group . – Mr President, the real solution for the situation we have is for the next European Council to endorse the reform of the Dublin system, as we in the European Parliament endorsed it with a clear majority. This is the real solution. In the meantime, it is important to highlight that in the face of the conservative xenophobic behaviour of the Italian Government, we now have a bold position coming from a Socialist government: the newly elected government in Spain. That is why we, the S&D Group, would like to have a debate on the Council and Commission statements on humanitarian emergencies in the Mediterranean. This is exactly our purpose, and we would also like to add ‘solidarity in the European Union’ in the title. We do not need a resolution, because good work is being undertaken in Libya on how exactly to deal with this situation.

(Interjection from the floor: ‘That is exactly what I said.’)

Yes, you changed your minds at the right time. Thank you again for joining something that we shall get a majority for in this Parliament.
