Debate with the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, on the Future of Europe (debate)
MPphoto

David Campbell Bannerman (ECR). – Mr President, I would like to thank the Chancellor for coming to the European Parliament. It feels a bit like being in the Bundestag today. French President Macron wants a real EU army – in his words – ‘to take on the USA’, and, as he says, Russia and China too. The French Finance Minister, Mr Le Maire, believes the EU must be an ‘empire’, in his words. So do you believe, as German Chancellor, in a new single European federal superstate or an EU empire?
