Richard Corbett (S&D). – Mr President, yes, I confess that I drafted this particular paragraph in our Rules of Procedure. It has been there for some years and it is specifically there to cater for this sort of situation where we have an inordinate number of amendments but where it is possible to make groupings in the way that Mr Lamberts described, or in other ways, in a sensible way, so that Parliament can get through its business. Whilst respecting the rights of Members to put their positions and have them voted on, it does make sense to group amendments in this way and it will permit us to get through our business efficiently, effectively, without any Members losing their rights to table amendments.
