Motion for a European Parliament resolution on observance of Remembrance Day (11 November)
The European Parliament,
– having regard to Article 167(1) and (2) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,
– having regard to its declaration of 10 May 2012 on support for the establishment of a European Day of Remembrance for the Righteous[1],
– having regard to Rule 120 of its Rules of Procedure,
A. whereas 11 November is a Belgian public holiday;
1. Considers that the EU institutions and the European Schools in Belgium should observe 11 November as a public holiday (Remembrance Day);
2. Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council and the Commission.
