MOTION FOR A RESOLUTION on the findings of a study conducted by the International Agency for Research on Cancer

European Parliament resolution on the findings of a study conducted by the International Agency for Research on Cancer

The European Parliament,

–       having regard to Rule 133 of its Rules of Procedure,

A.     whereas, according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), regular use of mobile phones without earpieces over a period of at least 10 years could increase the risk of brain tumours by as much as 40%;

B.     whereas the IARC has classified electromagnetic radiofrequency fields as possibly carcinogenic to humans, and whereas the INAIL (Italian National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work) was the first to identify the link between excessive mobile phone use and brain cancer;

1.      Calls on the Commission to conduct a study into this issue.
