to the Commission

This month marks the tenth anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, ratified and implemented by all EU Member States and CEECs.

What plans does the European Commission have to assign a higher political priority to children and to establish a children’s unit to provide overall leadership on children’s issues across the Community, and will the European Community publish a Communication on Children to mark the tenth anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child?
